Code Services

Is your city code up to date and organized?
Does it comply with federal and state law?
Are new ordinances added after they’re enacted?

The League of Minnesota Cities offers Codification Services through a partnership with American Legal. Codifying and updating your city’s ordinances is easy and affordable with these LMC services:
Basic Code: (Recommended for cities under 1000)
You can adopt the new 2010 Minnesota Basic Code for your city. This will ensure your code is in compliance with current laws, and is legally defensible. If your ordinances are disorganized and out-of-date they are a legal liability. If you don’t have staff, time or a lot of money , this is a great option. After adoption, you will also receive updates to your Basic Code as laws change.

Customized Code:
Your city code will be reviewed, updated, organized by the expert editorial and legal staff of LMC’s codification consultant, American Legal Publishing Corporation. With a searchable, custom city code, your city employees can find the information they need quickly-saving time and money. Codes arrive ready to be uploaded to the city website. All customized codes prepared by the LMC Codification Service receive a complete review under the supervision of LMC Special Counsel Duke Addicks, who has served Minnesota local governments for over 40 years.
